Ways to Volunteer

Shelter Volunteering

We provide shelter for approximately 125 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens every day. Each one gets a clean enclosure, nutritious food, basic shots, worming, spayed or neutered, and all the love we have to give. Volunteers are actively involved in the care of animals by feeding, exercising, socializing and grooming the animals under the direction of our animal care staff. Volunteers provide each animal with the extra attention that our busy staff often does not have time to provide.

If you are 18 years of age, have a love for animals, and have any spare time, the animals at the Wiregrass Humane Society would love to meet you!

Petsmart Adoptathon

The first weekend in May, Petsmart hosts its annual Spring Adoption Event.  Volunteers are needed to assist with transportation and set up of cages for our adoptables.  Volunteers are also needed to help monitor the animals while at the event. 

Critter Wish List

Items that are constantly in need at our facility include the following:

• Gift cards to Walmart, Jeffers, or Petsmart
• Gas cards to purchase fuel for our truck
• Purina Kitten Chow, Puppy Chow, Dog Chow or Cat Chow
• Paper towels and toilet paper
• 55 gallon trash bags
• Bleach, pinesol and other cleaning supplies
• Postage stamps
• Puppy pads
