Ways to Volunteer
Foster Care
The animals that the Wiregrass Humane Society accepts are not always immediately ready for adoption. Until they are ready to go home with a new family, Foster Care Volunteers take them into their homes and care for them. Some situations where foster care is needed would be;
- pregnant females,
- nursing mothers and their infants,
- orphan puppies or kittens,
- dogs undergoing treatments for heartworms,
- abused, fearful animals who need to learn to trust.
Foster Care Volunteers need to have adequate facilities and no animals of their own, or pets that are very tolerant of newcomers.
